"Rather than mastering the 'hard' skills of survival or attempting to turn back the clock to some idyllic state, Rewilding for me is more about waking up our instinctive awareness and our heart's passions, so that we can expand more fully into our human potential."
For the first time, more than half of the world’s population live in cities. For the vast majority of human history our environment has been predominantly natural, but now it is urban and increasingly virtual. It seems we disconnecting from nature and losing a fundamental source of our wellbeing. Our connection to nature is an essential element of our humanity and so as we spend more and more of our lives interacting with technology, we must ask what nature means, why we need it, and how reclaiming our place in the natural world might help us be more fully human.
Connecting with nature requires more than simply getting a little fresh air or an armchair understanding. There may be personal and daunting barriers to overcome, mindsets to rethink, and relationships to include. This workshop will introduce ‘core routines of nature connection’ – practices that fast track connection – even in the city.
Expect a hands-on experience, weaving together the latest in nature connection science and theory, alongside traditional skills such as fire-by-friction, bird language, sensory awakening, and natural fibre string making.

About the School of Life
Opened in March 2014, The School of Life Melbourne is devoted to developing emotional intelligence through the help of culture. We address such issues as how to find fulfilling work, how to master the art of relationships, how to understand one's past, how to achieve calm and how better to understand and, where necessary change, the world.
