Currawong Kids

A 3 week nature connection workshop series for home educators: Thurs 14th, 21st &, 28th July.

Are you a wild one? How do we keep ourselves warm in the middle of winter? How did our ancestors cook food outside? Is it really possible to make fire without matches? Do you love sitting, singing, cooking and living around a campfire when you're out camping?
Join Mel from Firekeepers and guest mentor Claire Dunn author of "My Year without Matches."

Come and share your natural curiosity with us. Wander through the trees, learn new games, practice sneaking skills to get a closer look at animals, listen for the language of the birds, follow tracks, discover more about the plants, birds and creatures that share the city with us.

Aimed at 5 – 10 year olds, this three week series for home educators will have a loose focus on fire: different ways to create it, tend it, respect it and appreciate it. Bring a backpack with water, rain jacket, lots of snacks and a picnic lunch for the end.

While younger siblings may also attend at no cost, they will be the responsibility of their parents/guardians and the activities will be aimed at the older kids.

Through our nature clubs, workshops and family camps we provide opportunities for people to connect to each other, the natural world and a like-minded community. Children are nurtured to develop their enquiring minds and deepen their wonder and respect for the natural world.
