Wild Awake: Living a Connected Life

Claire Banner 3.jpg

Our birthright is living in intimate connection with the earth, others, and ourselves. And yet we live in a culture of profound disconnection - the source of much of the world's suffering. Claire Dunn is an explorer and pioneer in the movement known as 'Rewilding,' which seeks to repair the connective tissue of our culture and reawaken our intuitive, embodied wisdom.

Claire has apprenticed herself to nature over the last two decades, living for a year in the bush on retreat practicing ancient earth skills, studying with trackers and shamans around the world, and on the inner landscape, navigating her way through the dark forest of grief and despair. Claire now teaches and offers deep connective work - urban rewilding, contemporary ceremony, wilderness rites-of-passage, and deep nature connection practices in groups and individually.

Claire Dunn is a writer, educator, journalist and barefoot explorer. Claire worked for many years as an environmental campaigner with organisations such as The Wilderness Society, before turning her attention to the human-nature connection, studying Deep Ecology with Joanna Macy, eco-psychology, and wilderness survival skills. In 2010, Claire embarked on a year of bush living, completing the ‘Guunuwa Independent Wilderness Studies Program’.

Her recent book My Year Without Matches: Escaping the the City in Search of the Wild is a memoir of that journey. Claire is a passionate advocate for ‘rewilding’ our inner and outer landscapes, and facilitates nature-based reconnection retreats and contemporary wilderness rites of passage. She is currently working on her second memoir about Rewilding in the Urban Landscape. See www.naturesapprentice.com.au
