A Mirawara Event:
The Way of the Ancestors workshop
9 - 11 April 2022
Walmer, Victoria
About this event
This event is organised and curated by Mirawara Environmental Centre.
Humanity is at a cross-road, our way of relating to the rest of life is causing damage to the living earth and the animals and plants that share it with us, our community. It is time to pause, to reconnect, to relearn our ancient relationship to the web of life we are embedded within. Indigenous wisdom holds an unbroken thread , stories and crafts that with the engagement of our hands and hearts can plant the seeds of new beginnings , grounded in ancient knowing.
Join Claire Dunn and Dja Dja Wurrung elder Aunty Marilyn Nicholls for an immersive 3 day camp in Walmer (near Castlemaine). Our camp will include a cultural walk at Mt Dharrengower, how to create fire using ancient techniques , basket weaving with master weaver and Dja Dja Wurrung elder Aunty Marilyn Nicholls, landscape ecology, bird language, nature connection activities, knot skills and tree climbing, ancestral work, kids activities and much more. Bring you own camping gear, water, breakfast and lunches. We will be providing 2 delicious vegan meals cooked by the Murnong mammas for our 2 evening meals.kids under 5: free
